Windsurfing: The Dip-Felixstowe Wind Direction: ssw Wind Stength: 20/35 Surf / Sea State: big Air Temperature: 20 Sea Temperature: 16 Weather: sunny periods Max Speed: 23.62 (knots - unless stated otherwise) Distance Covered: 19.44 (Nautical Miles - unless stated otherwise)
Couldn't face a trip to a flat water spot at Southend or Point Clear and
as my mate Neil was coming to Felixstowe decided to to stay at home for
abit of bump and jump. Not my favourite style of sailing :( small sails and
huge bumy sea !!! We missed the best of the conditions in the morning
waiting for the rain to clear and then went for 5.6 on the 100 freeride
which was okay.I set off to the kite beach down wind at the Deben river
mouth where the conditions looked better with some rolling surf :) but it
took me along time to get there and when I did broke my 4.30 mast so had to
walk back to the van, have lunch and a big thank you to Peter Ling who
bravely lent my a lovely carbon rdm which was brilliant :) I played about
in the big waves for awhile before heading back. After a chat and with the
tide very high the wind seemed to dip abit and I had the best few runs of
the day and even manged to get afew gybes in - you would have thought that
after nearly 30 years of winmdsurfing I would get the hang of turning
around !!! I would probably had a better day at The Ray but the walk is a
killer and it was good to catch up with several mates on the beach and we
had four round for a top ,meal in the evening so Southend will have to wait
for another time !!!
